Your Work at Home Job Can Boost Your Daughter’s Self Esteem

Your mothering side is telling your children to be safe and not jump off up the high dive. While this displays the love you have for your children, it can also keep them from taking risks. From casual observation, one can look around to find that while daughters of stay at home moms may be independent, they are not sure as to how to make their mark in the world. Please keep in mind that this does not describe all daughters of stay at home moms, it is simply an observation made by a former stay at home mom who is currently a work at home mom.

When you work at home, you are introducing your daughter(s) to time management, determination, self discipline, the structure of family community and the concept that a woman can follow her dreams without sacrificing her family. A work at home mom doesn’t have to speak in order to teach her daughter(s) these things. These qualities are displayed by her ability to organize and balance work and family. The phrase “actions speak louder than words” applies in your everyday life. You are a woman who must use her time wisely and will only accomplish your dreams through determination and self discipline. Because you work from home, you are accessible to your family in times of crises or if they have a special event in their life. There’s nothing more important to a kindergartener than showing up for that first school party.  The idea of a family community, where each member of the family is an integral part of ‘the community’ inside your home, is essential for your daughter’s ability to work cooperatively as an adult. She understands that everyone has a job and must uphold their responsibility.

When your daughter(s) witness your drive and determination along with your ability to be there when she needs you (for the most part), it gives her the strength and understanding that she is not limited to conventional standards and success. She will strive for better things because of the qualities she sees in you on a daily basis.
