Why should you become a virtual assistant?

  • You have office skills.
  • You have experience running an office.
  • You know a lot about WordPress.
  • You’ve successfully marketed your own product.
  • You’re great at tech support.
  • You’re wonderful on the telephone.
  • You’re ready and willing to learn new things.
  • You need a job.
  • You love helping other people.
  • You have children and need flexibility.
  • You already have a computer, software and everything you need to start!

If you have found yourself wondering if you can do this job or not, then consider the above, and think about whether or not you have the skills you need to be a Virtual Assistant. If you don’t have the skills find out how you can get them. If you’re computer savvy, can use word processing programs, can use WordPress and other software learning quickly, then you can become a Virtual Assistant.

Simply choose a niche that you can specialize in and do that one thing. The more you do that, the better you’ll get. Say you want to learn how to install shopping carts for other people but you don’t know how. Why not practice on your own website, watch all the tutorials, take a class, and learn how to install a shopping cart. Keep good notes, and once you’re done installing your own, then you can start doing it for others. It really is that simple, and don’t let anyone tell you that it’s not. If you know how to do something via computer technology that other people do not know how to do, or just don’t want to do, then you can offer to do it for pay as a service.

The thing is you, you’ve got to get started. So do what I tell every new person, be your own best client first, set up your own website, or blog, set up your own shopping cart, set up your own business processes first, then you can start doing it for others. So, in answer to: Should you become a Virtual Assistant? If you want to, YES. There is nothing you can’t do if you put your mind to it. Just remember, this is a business, not a hobby. Don’t make commitments that you don’t want to or can’t stick to.
