Taking a vacation — As a Virtual Assistant you can too

Faye Barry

Faye Barry 2012

Well, my youngest daughter, Faye, is graduating from high school this coming Friday.

So my husband and I are taking about a week off work to spend time with her and our other girls who are coming from all over the country to watch their little sister graduate. It’s hard to believe that my girls are 25, 21, 20 and 18.

I cannot even fathom where the time went.

I am so very, very lucky to have been able to stay home with my girls as much as I did. Working from home as a single mom was the answer to all my money worries, but it also ended up being the career I most love even after I remarried, finished college, and had more freedom.

No, I didn’t get rich. But I did manage to stay off welfare, pay my rent on time, and my girls — while not showered in treasures did not go without. In addition, they have all learned the value of pushing up your shirt-sleeves and getting to work. Because, they actually get to watch me in action on a daily basis.  In their own way, each of them have helped me with my business in one way or another.

I have a mixed family, with a his, mine, ours, and the storks as I like to call them, but my girls are my babies and it’s with mixed emotions that I send the final little bird out of the nest to her life.

How I got so lucky to have all these wonderfully smart and beautiful young women in my life is beyond me. Anyway, in celebration for my daughters graduation and her full ride scholarship to college. (YAY)

  1. This is so inspiring! I am a virtual assistant from the Philippines and I also have a daughter in grade school. I am not rich but being a VA helps me meet the needs of my daughter and that of my mom and siblings. I only wish that I can continue on this career until my daughter is in college. That’s 6 more years!
