Independent Contractor vs. Employee

Super quick post tonight. I found this really useful PDF file from FindLaw.com, I wanted to share with you.

It is a Twenty Factor Checklist to Determine Independent Contractor vs. Employee Status.

This is a very important bit of knowledge you need to have if you contract with others whether you’re paying people do to things for you, or people are paying you to do things for them. Basically, it all boils down to control. If someone has control over when, where and how you do something, you might be an employee.

If you want to have your own business it’s important to understand these legalities. If you’re not sure, please check with a CPA or a Tax Lawyer to make sure you don’t run into any issues or problems. Don’t accidentally do something that can cause a bookkeeping nightmare for you or the people with whom you work.
