Gain experience through training programs

One way you can get experience as a Virtual Assistant is through certifications and training programs. Working as a Virtual Assistant we are expected to know how to use many different programs such as Basecamp, iShopping Cart, WordPress and more. If you haven’t used any of these programs yet, it is important to seek out training so that you can add this knowledge to your offerings.

There are a lot of places online to get training and prices vary greatly. One of the places that offers such training in separate software packages is Seven Winds Academy. You can get classes in iShopping Cart, WordPress, Typepad, Web Collaboration programs, and so much more. You can sign up for just what you need, or you can sign up for individual classes.

While I don’t believe that you must have specific VA certification to become a VA I do believe that it helps. In any profession training and certification helps you advance. Furthermore, the more you can specialize the more you can charge your clients.

Also, if you have no experience working with clients and one of these programs, having the training is considered experience just the same as a college education is considered experience when you apply for a job.

So, if you want to be a highly sought after Virtual Assistant, try some training. There are other places you can get training. Such as VA Classroom, which is the banner link on top of this page. Also remember, any education program will likely provide some tax relief at tax time. (Check with your CPA)
